Auditions are going GREAT!!!
We had a great turn out today! We are really excited for all of the new talent that we saw!
Remember clinics are going to continue April 30th-May 2nd (3:30 to 5pm in the dance room) with Try-outs on May 3rd (3:30 till you are done auditioning in the dance room at the high school).
Just a recap of some of the important topics that we discussed at the parent meeting.
- What is Color Guard: color guard is dancing with flags, rifles, and sabres.
- How much does it cost: As of right now we are finishing up the paper work that we have to do before we can discuss fees, but the office said that we can tell you that the total won't exceed $1100.00 total for 9th-12th graders.
- Fundraisers: these have not been planned yet but we do some with the band and then we also have 3-4 that we will be able to do ourselves. More information will be announced.
- Practice schedule: See posted Calendar.
- Practice Attire: clothing you can dance in. Once class begins we will be practicing in practice blacks. And remember to check your clothing and make sure you are covered. No short shorts and low cut tops that show body parts we all don't want to see!
I just want to reiterate how the different teams will work.
In Summer:
ALL THREE teams will be together to train over the summer (May and June).
In Fall:
The team will split into the "Field Show" team and the "Fall Training" team.
Field Show Team:
This team will practice from July through October.
It can only consist of 9th-12th grade students that we put on the team for field show. We will practice 3 times a week with the band after school as well as in class in the mornings on "B" days.
These students will compete with the marching band in field show.
Fall Training Team:
These are our 6th-8th grade students. Due to district policy these students cannot be in the field show, but we still want them to get the training they need for winter guard. So, we will be meeting once a week from September through October until winter guard starts practicing.
Winter Guard:
There will be three teams that we as directors will appoint the students to be on depending on skill level.
There will be the Varsity, JV, and Junior Teams.
These teams will practice 2-3 times a week (these times have not been determined yet due to gym scheduling).
After Auditions are over we will post (at 9:30am on Saturday morning here on the blog) whether you made "Field Show" or "Fall Training" and at the end of October we will be posting whether you made Varsity, JV, or Jr. for Winter.
We were really excited to see all of you come out and have a great time! Everyone did AWESOME!
We'll see you tomorrow for Day 2!
